Happy April! Check me out!

Joshua is our little man on the go. He wakes up with a smile and then it's GO, GO, GO until naptime and then GO, GO, GO until bedtime. He thinks he can do anything - climb on tables and chairs, use knives (yikes), jump off ledges like the big boys, walk the neighbor's dog, mow the lawn, water the flowers, cook dinner...let's just say he is super curious and is testing the limits of his abilities all the time! Two bonus things he's almost mastered - hugs and kisses - yes, amid all the anxious movement, oh, he's learning quickly how to melts our hearts!

#10 = Bling, Bling

We have been so blessed to be each other's best friends for nearly 14 years and married for 10 years. We love each other and are grateful for the support we give to each other's dreams. Here's to many, many more! Last Friday the 18th we spent a night away (thanks to Uncle Rob) at The Waterway JW Marriott in The Woodlands. It was absolutely fabulous! We had a yummy dinner at Amerigos and just enjoyed being stress-free for one evening :) We got some much needed R&R :)

Happy 10th Anniversary to us...well, um, me :) Before dinner, Creston had us treated to massages - ah, the relaxation - and afterwards completely knocked my socks off with surprise (ok - so they were already off :) -- with a gorgeous diamond ring. See details below. He's a pretty tricky guy because I had no idea AT ALL!! Let's just say my finger will be protected from now on so watch out :)

Does every word start with the letter 'b'?

It's amazing as we see Joshua's number of words increase every day. Here's a little sampling of words he 'says' now:
*bottle (bah, bah)
*belly button (beh bah)
*ball (bah)
*book (buh)
*balloon (boo)
*look (oo)
*light or eye or outside (igh)
*truck (uh)
*mom (mawm)
*dad (dada)

Week of Food :)

Okay - this post is for my sweet friend Becca T. Meal ideas for a week - I usually try to alternate chicken, fish/seafood, beef, soups:

Monday.Chicken enchiladas (I learned the real way from my nanny) with black beans
Tuesday.Singapore shrimp and edamame (from Eating for Life cookbook)
Wednesday.Beef (or turkey) Stroganoff with egg noodles with veggie as side
Thursday.Fettuccine Lite Alfredo (from Lion House Lite cookbook) and peas and ham cubes
Friday.Taco pasta salad with fruit side
Saturday.Tuna melts and tomato soup
Sunday.Salmon, sweet potato, and salad

Also, another trick is to go to a Super Suppers or a place that premakes meals for you and purchase 6-8 meals to stick in the freezer. They taste homemade and usually you just have to defrost, cook, and add sides like veggies, bread or fruit to make the meal complete.

March was so fun!

March was a whirlwind of fun for our family! In addition to all of the Easter eggs and hunting, we took Joshua to his first rodeo and his first trip to the zoo. He is definitely a growing and busy boy - eating almost everything in site and trying his climbing abilities on every piece of furniture :( This is obviously a little scary at times. He dives face first down the slides at home and at the playground. In fact, this took Creston a little off-guard his last trip to the park. He was playing with Joshua and Joshua was on the highest platform - not where Creston was...and lickity split - Joshua turned and headed - literally head-first down the big twisting slide. It had rained the day before so splish-splash - Joshua dove through the water puddle at the bottom and landed in the 'sand' (tiny pebbly rocks). Creston was not in a position to catch him - although I can picture him doing his own set of diving maneuvers trying to. No fear - no tears, just plain old busy boy fun! I think it almost gave Creston a heart attack :(
