Oh Zion!

Okay - so I'm really slow. We had an absolute blast at the BGA 2008 reunion at Zion Ponderosa Ranch. We loved it!! Creston was counting down the days to go paint balling with the guys, Holly roughed it up on the zip line and ATV tour with the ladies, and Joshua pretty much loved the playground, digging in the dirt and rocks, and swimming in the pool. What beautiful country Southern Utah is! We had a blast with our family too.
Afterwards, we spent a day in Las Vegas checking out the shark pool at the Golden Nugget in 108 degree weather. Did we say, JAWS? Kind of freaky, but again - Joshua loved the fish! It was hot, but somehow the hot, humid air of our Houston home seemed hotter upon the return. Probably because we're not on vacation anymore.

Stiches x 2

Yikes! This morning I really truly wished Joshua was playing a Halloween trick on me by squirting fake blood out of his mouth. Unfortunately, it wasn't fake -- The poor kid was sitting on his little table in the kitchen eating some snacks this morning when - BANG! - I hear the chair topple over and the screaming begin.

Blood was running down his face - Halloween style. As I mopped it up to see the source - ouch - this kid's teeth punctured the inside of his mouth and he split his chin on the outside. Ah!!! I grabbed some water, baby bag, and purse and was off to the minor emergency center. His first visit to the ER (and probably not the last...)

Joshua settled down on the way to the doctor (1st picture with a smile and a split chin) - but immediately sensed trouble when two nurses and a doctor showed up to check out the wound. Sure enough - it called for 2 stitches. 2 spiky, black stitches. The screaming, crying, red-faced Joshua was not in the least happy about the situation - until it was over.

Thank goodness for the blankie and mommy's hugs! Two magical healing tools for those two little stitches. He was so exhausted from the ordeal that he konked asleep on the way home (which he never does by the way).

The after effects: anti-biotic and 5 days of no swimming - just before a family vacation!

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy -- yep, Joshua is one tough, little boy!!
